Why Does She Love This City?

by - 2:11 AM

Oh why oh why does she love this city?
Fading roses like her skin
Oh why oh why does she love this city?
Jagged mountains crushing her in

There is nowhere in this world
That compares to this broken beauty
There is nowhere else to be
But here, in this sunken valley

Oh why oh why does she love this city?
Fields of poppy in the green
Oh why oh why does she love this city?
Blue minarets, crumbling peace

There is nowhere like this home
All those memories buried deep like seeds
There is nowhere else to be
All her tears raining down the streets

Oh why oh why does she love this city?
Lost children wandering the streets
Oh why oh why does she love this city?
Mothers weeping, broken dreams

Oh why oh why does she cry for this city?
Cause’ love never fails
Love never fails

Oh why oh why does she love this city?
Cause’ hope sets the sails

Hope sets the sails

Welcome to my wayfaring world of stories. I’m a traveling musician and music educator from Melbourne living in Kabul, Afghanistan. Join me on my quest to embrace people of peace in tough places, inspire creative education where none exists, spark conversations that challenge the status quo, and collaborate with like-minded young people to catalyze a movement of peacemaking through acts of compassion and creativity among the young and free. As a nomad at heart, my ‘home’ is wherever I journey with people on the ground and discover life on the frontiers.
