Leaving the hectic city pace of
The skyscraper-style hotels and buildings along the coast
reminded me of Kuala Lumpur .
It was a strange sight for me. I woke up very early at like 5 in the morning
the next day to catch the sunrise and take a morning jog along the coast. It
was a stunning sight. It was good to be at where the ocean is – the sound of
waves, the sand in your toes, the wind in your hair, the sun on your face.
As I was walking, I just couldn't believe that there was no
one else with me. I was all alone. And yet not truly alone. It is in these
quiet moments that I feel God’s presence most dearly. It’s that peace, that
stillness – that steadfast joy. Oh joy and true gladness of heart indeed! How
thankful I am to be able to embark on a journey of chosen solitude for a few
weeks. I’m thoroughly immersing myself in it!
But I wasn't going to be staying for long in Surfers’ Paradise . It was a bit too city-like for me – too many people around and there weren't any coastal hiking or national parks to explore. So I decided to move on to a more adventurous spot: a three hour train ride up towards Brisbane and then a ferry ride from Cleveland towards the gorgeous Stradbroke Island
